Yesterday, I told the story of how Google+ aided my detective work that led to the recovery of my lost/stolen cell phone. Today, I’ll discuss the major security flaws I uncovered about Android phones and Sprint service in the process.
The Sprint Overdrive just isn’t a viable replacement for cable or DSL yet. Even though I live right in the middle of a 4G hotspot, I was not able to keep stable service and the device has serious overheating issues that need to be addressed.
The Nielsen Company is reporting that in Q2 2010 new sales of Android-based smart phones in the US surpassed those of the iPhone for the first time. Global sales are increasing, as well, with Canalys estimating an 866% uptick worldwide from Q2 2009. The increase in sales is being attributed to the maturation of the platform, as well as media hype for phones such as Verizon’s Droid X and Sprint’s HTC EVO.
