Nurture Your Social Network By Helping Someone Else

Just a quick challenge for everyone today. Keep in mind that your social network largely consists of your in-person connections, as opposed to just your online fans, followers, and subscribers. So, today I challenge you to reach out to someone in your network who you haven’t spoken to in a while. Maybe it’s a previous employee, maybe it’s your favorite manager from a past job. Find someone who you just want to reconnect with and ask them to grab a  cup of coffee.

What can you do to help someone else out today?

When you meet, focus on listening to what is going on in their life. Share stories and reconnect. Then, when you’re wrapping up, ask them if there is anything that YOU can do for THEM. Don’t ask for anything, just ask if you can help with anything they might need. You’d be surprised how often people need a new introduction, help on a project, or just to know that someone is there willing to help.
